About Portico Brewing

Portico Brewing is a craft brewery and taproom in the Boynton Yards neighborhood of Somerville, MA. Originally founded in 2012, we opened our own production facility and taproom in 2023. We brew a broad range of traditional and modern beer styles as well as hard seltzers, with an emphasis on approachable, well-crafted recipes.

Position Summary

We are seeking a part-time brewer to join the Porticrew to assist with all aspects of beer and seltzer production. This is a hands-on production role covering brewing, cellar operations, packaging, and more. The ideal candidate has a strong attention to detail, and an interest in craft beer and hospitality. Commercial brewing or homebrewing experience is helpful but not required. We're a small operation, so flexibility, initiative, and a sense of humor go a long way.

Responsibilities

• Assist with all aspects of brew day operations, from mash to knockout

• Perform cellar work including fermentation monitoring, transfers, and dry hopping

• Keg, label, and prepare packaged product

• Wash and maintain kegs

• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary brewery at all times

• Accurately maintain brew day logs, cellaring records, and production documentation

• Follow established recipes and standard operating procedures

• Assist with other production tasks as needed

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 55 lbs repeatedly

• Homebrewing experience preferred

• Background in science, engineering, or a related field preferred

• Commercial brewing experience not required but will be considered

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written instructions and recipes precisely

• Reliable, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently

• Interest in craft beer and hospitality

Compensation and Benefits

• Starting at $22+/hr depending on experience
